About us

The region of Gortys in the fertile valley of Messara in south Crete where is located, is being surrounded by Psiloritis mountain range and Asterousia mountains. Olive oil production and quality is high due to Mediterranean climate which favors the olive tree growing and the same time flowering and the variety of wild herbs, coniferous trees and thyme contribute to the production of top quality honey with high nutrition value.

Gaia Gortys by Apostolakis family is based in this blessed place, which has an admirable natural beauty and it is rich in goodsMy family comes from two villages of the Messara plain, named Stoloi and Vagionia 

My grandfather, Stelios started the olive tree farming in 1950. He was one of the firsts in my region, who had been involved in the organic farming of the olive tree since 1989. My grandfather Charalambos also had been involved in the farming of the olive tree, but mainly he had been occupied in beekeeping.

Since my childhood, I had been watching closely my family, which was being involved in a variation of tasks about olive tree and olive oil, organic olive oil and beekeeping.

Growing up, I started to help my grandparents and later my father with the harvest and the care of the olive tree and the bees

My love for the beekeeping passed via my grandfather into my father and from my father into me

Our family with love, passion, consistency and above all with respect to the human and the environment took generously the gifts of nature in order to give them back to you.

Following the family tradition, representing the third generation of our family, we aim to highlight via “ Gaia Gortys Apostolakis Family” the exceptional quality both of the extra virgin early harvest organic olive oil and the pure theme honey of our production.
